Organizational Setting
The Regional Office is primarily responsible for maintaining permanent contact with the States for which it is accredited, as well as with relevant organizations, regional civil aviation bodies and sub-regional bodies and United Nations agencies and programs. The Regional Office ensures inter-regional coordination and promotes the timely and harmonized implementation of ICAO policies, decisions, standards and recommended practices (SARPs) and air navigation plans. The Regional Office also provides technical guidance and supports States in their implementation activities.
In this context, the Technical Assistance Section of the Regional Office is responsible for supporting the administration of Regional Projects RLA/99/901, RLA/03/901 and RLA/06/901. It also supports the Regional Office in supporting and advising the South American States on their needs for the appropriate implementation of ICAO policies, standards and recommended practices (SARPs) through Technical Assistance or Technical Cooperation Projects.
The Regional Project RLA/99/901 – Regional System of Cooperation for Operational Safety Oversight (SRVSOP), with 12 Member States and one observer organization, is the RSOO of Latin America, whose objective is to establish and operate a safety system in Latin America with the necessary technology, logistics and administration. The SRVSOP’s mission is to provide assistance to States in overcoming their common problems in relation to the effective discharge of their safety responsibilities under SARPs and related ICAO documents. The SRVSOP has several regional activities with Latin American Aviation Regulations (LAR) being one of the most important. The position is under the Technical Cooperation Section of the Regional Office, the incumbent would be a member of the Technical Committee of the Regional System for Safety Oversight Cooperation (SRVSOP) and reports to the SRVSOP General Coordinator.

Impact of The Outcome of the Position
The position significantly impacts the delivery of the RLA/99/901 project. The incumbent’s technical support is necessary to ensure that the standards and recommended methods of Annex 6, Annex 7, Annex 8, Annex 16 and Annex 19 and the documents that support each of these Annexes in relation to the area of airworthiness are maintained and applied in the region through implementation of the designated airworthiness activities related to certification, approval and surveillance of organizations. The incumbent also impacts on project objectives, such as the training of State inspectors through the preparation and delivery of courses and training to States related to the provisions of the LAR AIR package.
It also has a significant impact on regional technical cooperation among SRVSOP member states in terms of recognition of approved maintenance organizations for aircraft and aircraft components, ensuring operational safety and avoiding duplication of effort by taking advantage of economies of scale.
Work Relations and Contacts
The REDDIG Network Administrator reports directly with the immediate supervisor (CNS Regional Officer). The nature of the contacts involves the analysis of network performance, operational functioning, training, planning, implementation of new services, logistic and coordination with other communication service provider.

A first level university degree in science, engineering or a related field or technical qualification in aviation, such as a maintenance license, may be accepted in lieu of a university degree.
